KBS just finished their review of JYJ’s 1st Korean studio album “In Heaven” on September 28th. Nearly all of JYJ’s tracks passed KBS’s reviews except two, “Pierrot” and “Mission.” The two songs were deemed ineligible for broadcasting.

The broadcasting company states that the lyrics to the track “Pierrot” are inappropriate because they are a personal attack to SM Entertainment’s Lee Sooman. The lyrics read, “There is nothing ahead of money, you are a complete pro. Properly p.s.m.”

During the process hearing, KBS stated that the lyrics “p.s.m” from JYJ’s “Pierrot” can only be understood as President Sooman, which gives off the impression of their personal attack towards the SM Entertainment CEO. JYJ is currently undergoing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment. Therefore, “Pierrot” was deemed ineligible for broadcasting due to it being a song that “holds a grudge against someone.”

An official representing JYJ told Star News on September 29th, “KBS has arbitrarily interpreted ‘p.s.m.’ without going through the verification procedures. They are not a deliberate attack towards anyone. You have to understand the lyricist’s intentions with a bit more effort.”

He continued with, “The written lyrics aren’t intended for any one person. It questions society as a whole. The target was not written towards a specific person.”

The lyricist of the song “Pierrot,” Kim Jaejoong, can request a reconsideration and submit an explanation of what the lyrics mean to reverse KBS’s ruling.

“Pierrot” has been questioned ever since it’s release. Last November at the Jamsil Stadium during JYJ’s concert, reporters present asked Jaejoong about the song, to which he replied, “It is a song written to educate on the reality and to express the anger for the suppressed freedom.”

A few minutes ago, Jaejoong tweeted on the matter and said, “The one thing that I’m curious about despite having had no sleep for 33 hours.. who thought of “president” for p..? And everything that comes afterward as well.”

In addition, JYJ’s “Mission” has the lyrics “So f*** off no more talk,” and due to the swearing involved, did not pass KBS’s review for broadcasting. However, JYJ’s remaining songs on the album “Nine,” “In Heaven,” and “The Boy’s Letter,” were all deemed eligible for broadcasting on KBS’s networks.

JYJ is still waiting on broadcasting verification from television companies MBC and SBS.

  1. It more like KBS reviews JYJ’s “In Heaven”album, searching a reason to banned JYJ appear at KBS : p

    • I feel the same way,KBS doesn’t want JYJ to appear on thier music show and wants to find any way to stop them.I think thier p.o-ed at the backlash they got and blame the guys for it.I might be in the minority, but I don’t want them on that station,I feel they would somehow sabotage the performace(microphone,audio-sound)and possibly treat them badly backstage, this company holds a grudge and I worry for the guys walking into hostile territory.

    • I agree!

      • very clear

  2. lmao i can’t argue with mission but xD
    damn u yoochun lololol
but wouldn’t they have beeped it like they did get out?
assuming get out passed i can’t understand why mission can’t…

  3. Someone should compile list of what PSM can stand for. It could even be Protect Soo Man (haha). PlayStation Magazine, Please See Me ,Public Service Motivation, Personal Security Manager , Public Service Manual, Personal Short Message, etc.

    • Please Save Me……….lol XD

    • Hm. I don’t know. PSM suspiciously looks like president sooman. Post menstrual syndrome? … but that would be PMS. Personal Messaging System? Prejudiced Society for Money?

      • thats what worries me :( honestly i wish JJ or YC would just say what PSM really stands for and get this thing over with.. atleast then KBS wont have any excuses to play out regarding why they wont play the song

    • SBS really don’t know bout “presumption of innocence”!!

    • Perfect Sexy Men (credit to someone in Allkpop)

      • I thought it was ParkYoochun Sexy Man ahhahahahah

    • protect soo man.

      haha

    • HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA UR PSM POSIBILITIES CRACK ME UP

by the way all psm stand for soemthing like a number one peson a top professional the number one important person, it was obvious the tone ur a real psm was a sarcastic tone, it mean money is always a head what a top notch professional person something like that, through i’m sure they did mean soo man but not in psm its a under the line lee soo man but on the clear, its number one professional person. its not a popular use which indicates jaejoong in well learned to come up with psm an i don’t think he meant it to be psm but the hole lyrics were directed at lee soo man including psm but not in the same way everyone thinks. psm is no diferent than i am not ur Pierrot what jaejoong meant is soo man i am not ur pierrot to repeat all the lines u tell me to say for the interviews telling me to say thank u , u controll us (by forcing us to make reports , put tabs on us watch our every move where we go we need permission before we do anything ) but say its for our protection this is all in the lyrics if u concentrate , this song isn’t like any song they made this is purely experience expressed, it not sinning for fun and sharing this is plain expression.

      my point of view
      and it could be astray

  4. mjjeje, can you tell us what p.s.m stands for?! it could be a misunderstanding again =\

  5. I personally thinks that there’s no need for JYJ to appear in KBS, SBS or MBC. They sold out they album, topped the chart, a bluechip in CF industry, wo what the need to appear in TV anymore. JYJ can show Korea, and the whole world that they dont need all the publicity of going to TV stations, they just need us the fans to support them. At the end, it’s the albums sales, concert sales etc that counts, not how many TV show that they are in. We know they are the best. GO JYJ!!!

    • actually they do need to appear on tv. any artist, whether in hollywood, japan, or korea needs to appear on tv to promote no matter how popular they. actually popularity is only attained through tv and media exposure.

i dont knw how true this is but i have read on one of the kpop sites that JYJ’s album has sold 50,000 copies in the past 2 days. its good but its no where amazing. i dont knw where u got that they topped the charts but they havent. the only chart they topped thus far was the real-time chart which changes throughout the day depending on whose album is selling highest at that moment in time. they are no where near the top of the gaon chart which is probably the most impo chart in Korea

so yes they do need to appear on show and promote properly. even if they dont appear on shows at least their songs should be played on radio and tv for better exposure.

      • JYJ In Heaven 55,838 copies sold (ONLY THE RED VER. which most of the articles forgot to mention) – topped Hanteo real time chart. And I would like to mention that the red/black and blue versions got SOLD OUT completely on many Korean sites (brown version is being still ordered) and I assume on Hanteo like on Oricon first are counted sells from big music stores. Unfortunately Korean Hanteo chart is not as quick as the Japanese Oricon coz it’s relatively young chart so it takes more time to count the sells. Beside that “In Heaven” was just released 3 days ago but it is already no. 6 on Hanteo’s YEARLY chart!!! So let’s better wait for the weekly chart before going to judge their popularity.

Also I would like to correct You that Yesasia counts to Gaon Chart. DVDHeaven counts to Hanteo. Hanteo chart counts for GDA & most award shows in Korea. Gaon have their own award ceremony and it’s for the international sells. So Hanteo is still more important if JYJ want to win any award in Korea. Also I think they will win awards from Gaon Charts as their albums – red/blue got sold out on many international sites like yesasia for example.

Korean fans says “Get Out” is being played everywhere in korea. restaurants, shops and even people on the road play their music so I think even if they need to show at tv music shows to gain popularity they still menage to gain it so I think that is pretty amazing.

Japanese fans also says the same thing: Tohoshinki is played everywhere in Japan and that is also amazing! At least for me lol

      • @Kiera

They are in the top of the Hanteo Chart for 3 days already, that is since day 1 the album was released
In 2 days they have sold 62K copies, which is more than what Mirotic sold the first 2 days (54,040)
Super Junior album which tops right now the hanteo year chart sold 77K in the first week. If anything will slow down JYJ In heaven sells is that there is not enough production.

      • its good that they are getting played on radios.. this is really the most impo thing. exposure is what both groups need right now.

i wonder though how come they have only counted the Red version only and not the other 2 versions?? correct me if im wrong but i thought all versions were released at the same time?

also shouldnt the first day sales include the pre-orders as well?? i read in a previous article posted here that the pre-orders were near 300,000 copies, so shouldnt those pre-order sales have also been included in the total sales?

also i recall clearly the boys stating on various shows that mirotic preorders were exactly 330,000 back in 2008, which i do recall were combined with the first day sales that were not from pre-orders, hence why the boys were able to sell over 500k of that album. so shouldnt the chart now combine JYJ’s In heaven sales with the pre-orders? :(

this is really making my head spin O_o

      • @Kiera

The first day doesn’t count the pre-order. JYJ had 300 in pre-orders, you can read the media report about it here in this site.

        Mirotic first day was 47,371

if you look at the sales of mirotic, in the first 3 week they haven’t sell the 330K

      • @Carmila

thanx for ur reply but then when are the pre-orders are suppose to be counted for??

if this was the case then wouldnt have been better if the fans waited until the album was released before purchasing the album so that it would reach a higher position on the chart?

tbh i dont think this system is fair..if this is the case then other lesser known artists could easily chart up higher than JYJ despite having sold less units of the album just because the pre-orders are not counted.

      • @Kiera
Pre-orders is the demand of the stores.

  6. Oh no, Mission’s one of my favourites from this album, damn. “So f*** off no more talk,” happens to be my favourite line :) … You can totally feel their frustrations towards whatever’s going on, with this one tiny little word, lol. I guess a little swear won’t kill.

If really it’s deemed inappropriate, they can always request for it to replace the f*** word with some other words: a beep maybe? hahaha, but it’s going sound weird.

There you go, KBS and their lame excuses.

  7. Uhh… the deem Pierrot for being ineligible for broadcasting, but what about Untitled Song Part 1? That is clearly directed at SM….

These companies need to stop sucking up to SM.

On another note, I absolutely love Pierrot and Mission. Lets hope psm gets cleared up, and these companies will stop finding stupid reasons to refuse broadcast to our boys. :)

  8. LOL they could have just beeped out the profanities…Mission is awesome!

  9. OMG KBS if you want to kiss SM’s ass then just say so. Don’t give stupid excuses like these. JYJ’s songs are well love by everyone and who the hell are you to say otherwise. If KBS hasn’t notice, JYJ without any promotion for their album In Heaven reach the top of the hanteo chart. Why does KBS thinks that it’s a personal attack??? It must be true then…. money is always the top priority for lee so man. JJ doesn’t have to send in no explaination, JYJ will be better off without SM or KBS anyways.

  10. Even if they were to ban these 2 songs,JYJ should still be allowed to perform on stage right?
after all the songs that they are promoting now are ‘In heaven” and “Get out” and i want to hear In heaven live !!!
Does KBS even knows how much albums they’ve sold alrdy just a few days after the album release compared to the other artistes on their prog?
This already shows how well demand they are and how much the public and international fans are paying attention to them.
Denying them a stage to sing just makes you look even more silly, kbs, for overlooking talents like them :/

  11. KBS HAS CRACKED LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

    • More like they are on crack, lol

  12. lol I highly doubt our baby Jae even knew the english word “president” before today….

I really love “Pierrot”, but whatever! as long as the other songs are safe :)

  13. But I’m seriously curious about that p.m.s thing… Jaejoong seriously needs to do an explanation~
    but…
    president soo man? pssshh…

    • KBS ‘s kissing SooMan’s ass!
