Here comes the 9th episode! We almost finish of year 2007… and I’d like to put it an end to year 2007 in this post, but then it will be too stuffy so let’s cut it to two parts
Oh! and before I continue… past 2 weeks were hard period for me, but then I finally came back to my parents’ home and found my friend Demay sent me this package!
Luph you darling! tehehehehhe~
—————————
Before in January 29th, TVXQ under the name Tohoshinki participated in a live concert entitled “Club Disney Concert” and performed a cover of ‘A Whole New World’ from their ‘Five in The Black’ album.
All songs performed that day at the concert were compiled and released through this compilation album later in early March:
Compilation album: Disney mania presents Pop Parade Japan
(March 7, 2007)
A Whole New World @ Club Disney Concert
This is the third compilation album for TVXQ in 2007 after the release of ‘Goong S Official Soundtrack’ album in January with ‘Remember’ and ‘The Blue Wolf – To the Ends of the Earth and Sea Music Collection’ on February 28, 2007 with ‘I’ll be There’ (both Korea work).
I’m not sure whether our boys are already listed as A-listers in Japan at this phase, coz they haven’t yet reached ORICON #1 for any of their single — Japanese music industry wisdom word: “Be an ORICON king to be a king” XD — but they’re surely Gods in the eyes of Korea market… or maybe Asia.

The title was proven as the boys did attend an award event in Japan, MTV Music Video Awards 2007 on May 26th, 2007….. but to represent their home country ^^ At the event, TVXQ was nominated and won “Best Buzz Asia in Korea” award for their album “O”-Jung.Ban.Hap.

To see from Yoochun and Changmin’s hair, seems that TVXQ were in the midst of preparing the concept for their ‘SUMMER: Summer Dream, Song For You, Love in The Ice’ single.
But that’s not the next single that was going to be released ^^ Our boys had already finished another single after the sexy ‘Choosey Lover’
Eleventh Japan single: Lovin You
(June 13, 2007)

1. Lovin’ You
2. 五線紙 / Go Senshi (Music Sheet)
3. 約束 extra NSB mix / Yakusoku extra NSB mix
4. Lovin’ You (Less Vocal)
5. 五線紙 (Less Vocal)
I never like ‘Lovin You’.
Seriously. Maybe because basically I don’t like minor notes, while this song is full of it. Jaejoong also sounds breathless in this song… That pretty guy does have weakness in managing his breath while singing, yes, especially at short lines… but in every ‘Lovin You’ performances, the weakness always got revealed too much (or…. maybe that’s not the case and I just don’t like this song period XD *killed by Jae*).
I even HATE the MV >.<
I reallllyyy hate the MV the first time I watched it. Those lead actor and actress’ expressions in the MV are really bugging me (now I sound like an anti, lol). It’s better to leave the MV with the members only and no the weird couple at all.
However, ‘Gosenshi’ adds a quite high mark for this single in my book ![]()
One of the member (Yunho maybe?) ever said “On a gosenshi (music sheet) there are always five bars of musical scales. And those five bars represent five TVXQ members in our music.”
What a good old days….
Actually ‘Gosenshi’ is a … funny song, hehehe Yunho rap part comes awkwardly (Yunho does it good, but it sounds like the rap part is not supposed to appear all of sudden like that), and the way our boys sing the bridge part (part before chorus) was so funny as well, kekkeeke.. but for some reason, this song made its way to my heart.
I’m not sure whether the boys ever performed ‘Gosenshi’ live… have they? as far as I remember they never though
As much as I dont like the title track ‘Lovin You’, yet seems that the Japanese didn’t think the same as me. ‘Lovin You’ got 2nd at its highest peak for both ORICON daily and weekly, eventhough not at its first day release. Recorded better rank than ‘Choosey Lover’.

Just like before… for this album, let’s just talk about the members’ solo performances, shall we? ^^ Since all other songs we ever discussed about them in earlier episodes.
Oh! have I told you that Park Yoochun wrote the english part for song ‘Phantom’? No?
Park Yoochun wrote the english part for ‘Phantom’. Now I’ve said it
One Last Cry – Yoochun
Anyone ever realized that Yoochun made mistake at the veerrry end of the song???
I love this song so much even before my baby made a stage of it, and I remember all the lyrics, so of course I realized right away when Yoochun got his tongue slipped when saying “For my last cry~” after his epic scream “I’m doooonnneeee~” ^^
Instead of “For my last cry~” he went “For m^$%%#$%#% cry~”
lol
I ever tried to mix Yoochun and Brian McKnight voices for this song like what I did to SHINee Jong Hyun and Alesandro Sanz for ‘Y Si Fuera Ella’, but then I found that Yoochun sang this song a note higher than McKnight, so unless I have better tool than Windows Movie Maker, the mixing will be impossible ^^;;;;
The first time I listened to this song, I got embarrassed coz .. gomene, Yoochun, I wasn’t impressed at all at his rendition. But then I watched the video, and … it’s not that bad, hehehhehe… I guess watching how Mr. Park looked so absorbed into the song, changing my opinion about his performance ^^
It’s a nice performance, but not his very best.
When I First Kissed You – Changmin
I like the opening of this stage!!
Changmin sounded so magnae-ish when ordering his band players around, lol He even uses his cute voice.
I think Changmin’s pronunciation was a slight better than Chun,
This song fits his voice, even when Minnie’s voice was a bit squeaky. The squeaky voices gets eliminated, then this performance would be perfect. He sounds better in low notes.
Anyways, baby Min with red hat is sexy… XDDD
Crying – Jaejoong
Jaejoong comes back again with another rock song! But this time, it’s a slow rock
He sounds so great! I dont understand how he can be much breathless in ballad songs but in rock songs, he kills all the notes perfectly O.o! I guess when his voice power gets loosen out, Jaejoong will sing even better–this is the same case with his hubby Yunho.
However if you want me to choose, then I’ll choose ‘Footsteps’ performance over this one. ‘Footsteps’ was just too epic. I even left my mouth wide open while watching the stage.
The fact that Jaejoong’s shirt was half opened in this performance will NEVER change my opinion! *yet keep staring on his chest*
My Page – Junsu
Dolphin Kim NEVER do a ballad for his solo, and this is another dance bomb from him ![]()
I love the rain thingy and this song, eventhough not the type of song I use to listen, yet flows through my ears smoothly.
Junsu composed ‘My Page’ himself, and you know what? I think there’s something complicated about this guy Kim Junsu. Why? Then please explain to me how the cutie-baby-Changmin-victim-oh-my-God-sun-eu-kyang-kyang kind of Junsu we know… can sit on his chair, composing such a sexy song like this, or like ‘XIAHTIC’??? Can you imagine it??
The image of Junsu we know on screen, goofing around whenever he has time, and this Junsu who composes ‘My Page’ and ‘XIAHTIC’ just does not match at all XDDDD That kid must have multiple personalities or something.
Spokesman – Yunho
Have you ever read ‘Spokesman’ translation? Well, try once, and tell me if you understand the connection between one line to each other in the lyrics XD Me? I dont get it at all.
I ever chatted with my friend about this and our conclusion was awesome *grin*:
“The lyric is a mess. I dont understand at all”
“Me neither.”
“It’s like he put whatever words he wants and combined them altogether.”
“Don’t care what people may says about it.”
“Do whatever he pleases.”
“That’s it! That’s the meaning of the song! ‘Do whatever you wish, don’t care about others. Believe in yourself!”
“Coooolll~ Yunho is a genius!”
*both got killed by Ho*
^^;;;;;;;;;; Anyways, I do like this song! ha ha ha A lot of DBSK fans I know, even Yunho fans don’t really favor this song, but I think … this is a cool track
Donghae was doing great job too in supporting Yunho up there on stage.
Fourth SMTOWN album: 2007 Summer SMTown – Fragile
(July 5, 2007)

02. Let’s Go on a trip! – SMTOWN
05. Christmas in Summer – TVXQ
08. A shell Necklace – Xiah, Changmin, Lina, Sunday, Ryeowook & Yesung
I looovvveeee ‘Let’s Go on A Trip’!!! The best SMTOWN MV so far, in my opinion ![]()
And all SMTOWN members wore T-shirts which the drawings are made by our boys!! XD (they wore they own art T-shirt, if you dont know which member made which T-shirt art. But Yoochun has his two arts got used for the shirt: the flower one, and the heart one)
I wanna know the fights that might happened when SuJu boys got forced to wear those T-shirts, lol. Since TVXQ and SuJu love to tease each other a lot XDD
Another song from TVXQ in this album is ‘Christmas in Summer’ (or in other word: Impossible XP). A nice cheerful song ^^ They do a lot of harmonization in this song, and these guys never fail in that department. What I like about this song is, when you think that this is easy to be sung, then try to sing the chorus with your friend, and see how close you can get to the boys’ singing, lol
Yunho’s rap is awesome too <3
In ‘A Shell Necklace’, only Junsu and Minnie who participated. Their voices can easily be distinguished of course ![]()
Maybe this is only me, but Junsu voice stands out sooo much
‘A Shell Necklace’ has a beach-y (beach-y not bitchy, okay =P) feeling in it. I feel like drinking coconut while watching sunset with some beach dancers shaking their hips slowly beside me, lol
Twelve Japan single: Summer: Summer Dream/Song for You/Love in the Ice
(August 1, 2007)

1. Summer Dream
2. Song for You
3. Love in the Ice
4. Summer Dream (Less Vocal)
5. Hug (Acapella Version)
6. Song for You (Less Vocal)
7. Love in the Ice (Less Vocal)
Finally!! the last to be reviewed! (almost 11 pm here when I’m writing this, and I need to wake up at 4 am tomorrow ^^;;)
This is the first single of TVXQ that got ORICON Daily #1!!!!! YAYYYY FINALLY!
Their first triple A single in Japan had its rightfully praise from the nation of the rising sun ![]()
Yunho ever described this single as a single which you can listen to during the whole day of summer. ‘Summer Dream’ should be your theme song in the morning, with the sunshine and heat. ‘Song For You’ which has calmer melody will be your afternoon song, to rest your soul after a whole crazy day. And ‘Love in The Ice’ is the theme of summer night. A song that will carry you to sleep.
I always like ‘Summer Dream’ and ‘Song For You’ equally. But to be honest, ‘Love In The Ice’ — which is now one of the most epic song of Tohoshinki — was my least favorite song. For me, the ‘ah, ah, aaaah’ part is annoying, lol. It’s disturbing me for a while.
However, this stage changed my opinion forever:
Soul Power Live in Osaka
it is exactly the same video I watched back then. And if I’m not wrong, this is the first stage where Yoochun pulled out his super high note scream at this song he didn’t do at the recording version.
My jaw dropped at once. His scream added a better feeling (at least for me) to this track. And after that, I finally realized that Junsu’s solo “Setsunai hodo~” and so on and so on was also shining (sorry for realizing it too late, baby Su). And after that, I also noticed how great the power of Jaejoong voice in this song, too. And how high Changmin reached his note. And how stable Yunho voice was.
Then everything grows even more in me when I watched this stage:
Soul Power Live in Tokyo (Soul Power Tokyo Summit 2007)
which made me ended up being a fangirl of this song like mad.
\(O.o)/
That’s how I’m falling in love with ‘Love In The Ice’ XD
This single surely has every right to be called a Triple A single, just like ‘Bolero/KTBS/Wasurenaide’, and also to reward the boys for their very first ORICON #1 Daily
——————————————
And that’s the wrap for episode 9! Gyaaahhhh it’s already 11:31 pm nowww! I’m gonna killed if my parents woke up and still found me here.
We’ll end the year 2007 in next episode, so please stay tune for that! I may write it on another weekend
Hope you enjoy your reading, and please share to everyone if there are things left out in the writing!
Nite nitee everyonee

Junsu is indeed a profesional performer on stage and a perfect mood-maker behind the scene…

Ahh enigmatic Junsu. He’ll forever be a puzzle to us. Seriously…those lyrics in XIAHTIC…how did our sweet angle get that?? o.O
lol. I actually like Lovin’ You. I think it has an Asian feel to it, haha. Gosenshi is a fun song. =) I think Yoochun had once said that the song reminded him of Junsu’s smile. ^^
Duude Love in the Ice! I agree with you. The first time I listened to it, I wasn’t really into DBSK at the time so I stopped after the first few seconds. The “ah ah ah” was annoying. But after I got into DBSK, I gave the song another try and omg the bridge part with Junsu’s solo…love love love. This song is one of my all-time favs now, hehe.
Thanks again for the post!! ^_^

I think I’m the only other person who also doesn’t like Lovin’ you either. In fact, I agree with almost everything you said; Loved Jae & min’s performances and I also really like Yunho’s song too. It was very risky because it was so different but I’m glad he did it. As for LITI, Soul Power in Tokyo was the very first time I heard the song, so I was hooked from the get go. I didn’t even know the high note didn’t exist before until recently (sacrilege!), but now its iconic Yoochun and the song, iconic TVXQ.
P-S: There are always rough times, but fandom packages always make them better ^^ hope things are better.

thanks so much unnie!! ^^
i`m gonna comment on their solos :
yeah the “2nd live tour concert!!!
i really liked Yoochun`s performance … that was my first time listening that song and i loved it !
Changmin`s performance was also great … his cute voice makes him sexier! XD
Jaejoong … he was absolutly AMAZING! i fell in love with him watching this performance (i was like OMG i love his voice) … i love the rocker Jae : Footsteeps , crying , maze , it`s raining men … all those performances were AWESOME!
Junsu`s and Yunho`s performances were great too … but personally i liked more their solos in the MIROTIC concert ^^
btw .. how can you deslike “love in the ice”?? omo i atrached many fans with that song!!XD

hahaha I like LITI now, but back then, when I just listened to the recording version of the song, I wasnt impressed at all.
Like I said, the ‘ah ah ah’ part annoyed me before, lol

Thanks for this~ It made me wanna listen to a lot of songs now. lol.
Yes, LITI. This is the song that got me stuck on them.
I’m not a DBSK fan at all then. It was until I heard the Soul Power Live that convinced me, “Boy, they can sing!!”
From there, it’s a journey down the rabbit hole…

I hate to know there’s no more Soul Power Live.
Toho performed almost perfectly in all songs they performed at that event in 2007. One of my favorite stage from all TVXQ stages ever <3

Ahh, no wonder there’s no more Soul Power performances. I always find the event very unique. Like Boy Pop. It’s like those small underground event that gathered lots of unique artistes.
About Dolphin Kim, I didnt know he composed another dance song. >.<
I think he's often being labeled as having a powerful voice than a great dancer. Thus he wanted to prove his groovy side.
And BAM! Xiahtic-fy. <3

same wit me..!when i listen to tt LITI performance,i fall in love wit them..and of course, hubby chun caught my attention wit the high note..!
i first knew them by watching dangerous love banjun drama, and my first impression..’ah,anther korea boyband, pretty, but wit no voice’..and LITI perf change tt..!! now thinking back to tt old times, feel like smacking myself for saying tt they had no talent…lol..>_<

i think yoochun is truly a gifted musician. he really can feel the music. i love how he change his part it gives the climax a very dynamic and explosive feel. he did the same for bolero. genius!
i totally agree junsu is so enigmatic. lol i always feel that junsu is more than what meets the eys n is really multi layered. he isnt fake just have alot of sides that he doesnt reveal onscreen. i observe his anwers on interview mags ect n its really different from the smiling angel we always perceive him as.
im actrually loving changmin single. lol he n jazz mix so well. his english isnt perfect but really good barely any accent when he sings. yunnie solo is cool but not exactly the one that would be on repeat. jaejoongie rock solos rock. but maze n footsteps are his best.
i was so in love with yoochun solo. it was my first time hearin one last cry. i looked up brian mcknight n other renditions of the song. se7en ect. i might be bias but i still love yoochun version. his voice is so velvety smooth n despite the partly broken english he did awesome. although im still in debate how he manage to pull a minnie note lol
love in the ice is classic. but its kinda funny i didnt fall in love wit the song at first time either. it grew on me. the live was definatly what enhance the song. loving yu use to be a favorite of mine. when i was still a new fan. i liked lovin yu over forever love. but now its the opposite.
sorry for the long draggy comment n rant lol. thank yu so much for this new episode. appreciated!

It’s interesting to note that in the Korean studio version of Love in the Ice, Yoochun did pull that super high note again. (I think I’m a new convert of this song now.)
Lovin’ you single scored higher with the Japanese probably because it’s Enka-sounding? Or maybe the boys were beginning to make a mark in the Japanese music scene, I don’t know. BTW, great album covers for this single.
Your reviews on their 6 years journey are truly excellent. There are always bits and pieces of info I’ve never known before, and it’s great to catch up on them right here in SYC.
Thumbs up for this article.

*sigh* Again, I’m always late. TT_TT
Personally I think Lovin’ You is a good song. But heck, no matter how popular or good a song is, there are bound to be some few people who will hate it. XD
Kyaaaa….O concert. I remember I started liking “One” when I heard it live. Phantom performance amazed me very much coz the live sounded great. Among all the solo perfs, Yunho’s left the deepest impression in me. XD
Jae looked like a girl in the Summer single cover. *gets kicked by Jae*
Ahhhh…Love in The Ice. Yoochun’s high notes were EPIC. BIG TIME. But I favoured the live version more than the recording version. I think the live sounded more awesomer. XD
